The Truth about Edmodo

February 11, 2012 Leave a comment Go to comments

When Edmodo (www.edmodo.com)  is shown on the computer screen the layout of the website looks a lot like Facebook (www.facebook.com). But for educators and students it is so much more. Edmodo is a student friendly site which can only be registered on if you are connected to a teacher. Students will put in there last names, but students never see each other’s last names, only their initials. Teachers can create many different class groups for different areas of studies. Teachers at SCIS have used Edmodo to connect with classrooms around the world during our global collaboration projects such as “Reading Across the Globe” and “A Week in the Life“. Teachers can post assignments, surveys, polls and instructions on Edmodo. So even though it has the look and feel of Facebook, Edmodo is very much a classroom management website providing teachers and students with opportunity for collaborating, connecting and sharing content online.

If you are an educator looking to connect, find another teacher around the world and use Edmodo to get your students connected.
