Tool Implementation Lesson for PBS Class

Use the following guidelines to create your activity:

Goals:The goals of the lesson or activity are to teach students to appropriately use and cite resources from the Internet.

Outcomes: The students should be able to cite and legally use photos.

Use of Web 2.0 Tool: The students will use Google Forms to evaluate the websites. They will use http://www.easybib.com to cite the work. The evaluation form is important for developing critical thinking skills for evaluating websites. EasyBib website is important for students to correclty cite websites.

Standards: This will teach the students the ISTE Standards 3, 4, 5 which are Research and Information Fluency, Critical Thinking, and Digital Citizenship.

Prerequisite Skills:  The students should be able to type in web addresses, search and find information, and basic Internet skills before they take part in this lesson.

Procedure:  What will be done, step-by-step, during the lesson or activity? Provide any links to sites you will be using. Students need to

  1. In the previous lesson the students will have already found 4 website that they would like to use for their country report.
  2. They will fill out the “Website Evaluation form” to determine if each site is a good site.
  3. If the 4 sites found are not good sites, the students will find 4 good sites.
  4. They will then find three photos from the websites, and use http://www.easybib.com to cite the photos.
  5. The students will then use Microsoft Word to insert the three photos and citations into a document to save.

Evaluation:  The documents will be reviewed with a rubric evaluating the photos taken and the citations copied.
