Differentiation Professional Development

January 27, 2013 Leave a comment Go to comments

The first Friday in January was an all-district professional training on differentiation. With Senate Bill 191 taking affect next year, the district is concentrating on how to make sure we are reaching all students. The training was based on Carol Anne Tomalinson from University of Virginia

The 6 things to concentrate on are:

  1. Flexible Grouping
  2. Building Community
  3. Respectful Tasks
  4. Teaching up
  5. Continual assessment
  6. High-Quality Curriculum

The day was fast pacing and very efficient. Although I do wish that certain ones would have gone into more depth. It was a lot of information for one day.
